cuckoocookie
Hello everybody, I have a quick question related to sertraline. Been taking it for two months now (depression and anxiety) and although my doctor said absolutely no alcohol consumption I was wondering if 2 maximum glasses of anything now and then can have bad effects upon my treatment? I don't care if it's dizziness or getting drunk quicker as long as it doesn't interfere with the serotonin balance.. I know it's not recommended at all, but all my friends drink and even if I managed to refrain myself till now, I have a graduating party coming and I wanna know if I can at least have one drink with them without having to search for the soda bottle. Guest
I didn't have a problem with light drinking, but I did find I would get tipsy faster than premeds.
Guest Vapourware
I'm also on sertraline and it's fine for me to drink as long as I'm moderate with consumption. Ideally, you shouldn't drink while taking medication because meds can increase the effect of alcohol on your body. I think you should talk to your doctor about your upcoming graduation and see their rationale for telling you to stop drinking completely.
cuckoocookie
The deed is done.. I had a little bit of gin but didn't get drunk at all. Until at the end of the night I started feeling drowsy and eventually fainted. My friends said I was really pale and my lips were purple. But I don't know if it was because it was really hot and crowded in there or because of the interaction between alcohol and the meds. I don't wanna talk with my doctor cuz I already drank and I really am ashamed of what happened so.. I don't know.
chimpmaster
Well you have two options - tell -pdoc or dont tell pdoc. Your an adult so its your choice. As the others have said, drinking in moderation shouldnt be a problem. But unless you drink regularly and have tolerance, expect alcohol to have around double the effect that would if you werent on the setraline. This means take it really easy.
