icecreamsundae
I am posting today because I am at my wit's end. I am very sick. I'll explain my story. I started taking Geodan (prescribed by my doctor at 20 mg about a month ago). I was only on it for about a week and a half to two weeks at 20 mg. I decided to stop becuse I didn't think it was making me feel better, didn't know there would be a withdrawal. So, I was sick the first few days and then got better. Now recently, I started getting sick again. Headaches, Bad gas, insomnia, chest pains, slight tremors, diarrhea, etc. I talk to my therapist and he said it is highly unlikely that I had withdrawal from geodan at such a small dose but internet stories say otherwise. I went to another doctor and she said it is the stomach flu and upper respiratory congestion. I don't know what to believe I just want to be better. This has been the worst mistake of my life. I'm so scared. Did anyone withdrawal cold turkey? What were your exeperiences? When did you feel better? What can I do to cope with this?

You can find all sorts of horror stories on the internet about any drug, but that does not make them true. I'd believe my doctors if I were you. But, people who have taken the drug can give first hand accounts of their Geodon experiences as opposed to doctors who probably haven't tried the drug. Alien Navel Cord
I had been on 80mg and was supposed to be going up to 160mg but hated Geodon because it sedated me so heavily I could not wake up, I couldn't drive, and I had akasthisia really bad. So the pdoc prescribed me something else and said I didn't have to titrate down off the Geodon because there were no withdrawals. Boy was my pdoc wrong. I had the same withdrawal symptoms that I had when going off paxil (an SSRI). Especially the brain zaps. I felt sick to my stomach, would vomit, had diarrhea, and was dizzy. When I told him about it at the next appt I had with him, he dismissed it and said there are no withdrawals from Geodon and it must've been something else. I know he's wrong though, because the brain zaps. The Brain zaps! Ahhh! Horrible thing.
melissaw72
When I tried Geodon, I was required to get routine EKGs and monitored heart rate. IMO I would be careful b/c it might affect your heart in some way. (I'm not a DR though)
koali777
My pdoc made me taper down from 240 mg and each week, 40 mgs less. So I "quit cold turkey" at 40 mg. I had the same thing you have. Maybe you are very sensitive to meds like I am. I also couldn't sleep but would have those awful lucid dreams that you can't wake up from. Everyone's different. But in this, I'm like you. Velvet Elvis
It has a really short half life. Since you took it for so little time and at such a small dose it's unlikely that you experienced any kind of withdrawl after the first 48 hours or so.
