lifequake
I admit that I don't know a great deal about EPS and antipsychotics. Anyhow, I was wondering about the frequent muscle twitches that I am experiencing while starting on risperidone. A muscle in my arm will twitch, then one in my hand, then my leg, then my back, and so on. You get the picture. The twitches are frequent and sometimes noticed by others, which makes me feel a bit self-conscious. Not to mention that it just feels very odd to have a symphony of twitchy muscles playing in my body 24/7. Do these sorts of symptoms tend to subside as one's body grows accustomed to the med, or do they tend to get worse over time? Currently, I'm only taking 0.25 mg. Thanks for any and all responses! gizmo
You are on an awful small dose, so I don't know. Have you asked your dr for a drug like cogentin to see if it helps your movements? You might be experiencing akathesia.
koali777
I have been wondering the same thing. For awhile I had a "forehead twitch" and a "nose twitch." Happened all the time, but never got bad. It may mean nothing though.
lifequake
Thanks for the replies. I wasn't looking for a diagnosis. For some reason, I thought it would be something that others had experienced on AAP's. I will bring it up with my pdoc at our next appointment and see what he says. cfranco92
I experience leg twitches (and a fine leg tremor) and a tongue jerking due to my APs. My pdoc suggested I take 1600 i.u of Vitamin E for my tongue jerking and it helps.
melissaw72
You are on an awful small dose, so I don't know. Have you asked your dr for a drug like cogentin to see if it helps your movements? You might be experiencing akathesia. I couldn't be on cogentin because it gave me Parkinson's effects, ie shuffling feet, bending over when I walked, in a stupor.
