jt07
I take 15 mg of Abilify, and I also take mirtazapine. In my case, the side effects went away after the first month or so. I don't have side effects now except maybe for a small appetite increase. The best way to deal with them is to understand that they are likely temporary side effects until your body gets used to the med.
dreadOHdreads
Abilify gave me very very bad blurred night vision. It made driving very very hard. As long as I was taking it I had the symptom. It went away when I stopped taking it.
Antigone
Abilify blurred my vision to the point of doubling it in the early days. After a month or so, that went away. The jaw clenching was pretty intense in the beginning, too, but has relaxed some. The hunger is relentless, as has been the weight gain for me (and many others), though it may differ for you. leopard
I have noticed a difference in my vision, specifically sensitivity to sunlight and difficulty reading small print. Very disturbing, as I like to be outside. Blurred vision makes reading tough. But the biggest problem is insomnia. Anyone else dealing with this? lavender fairy
Abilify makes me sleep too much, like 12+ hours a day.
leopard
Abilify makes me sleep too much, like 12+ hours a day. You take it at night? Do you think it is a good med... is it helping your depression?
lavender fairy
I take it in the morning. Problem is that I go to bed and can't wake up until 12 hours later, if I do, I need a nap during the day. This started when I went up to 4 mg of Abilify and hasn't let up since. It is helping with my depression, which is why the pdoc is keeping me on it. melissaw72
Abilify, along with other meds, helps the hallucinations stay away. When I first went on it I had a good reaction ... my head felt so much better -- and it seemed to change my thinking in some good way, but I really can't explain it. I think it really helped with the depression, among other meds.
phatemu
Yep, jaw clenching ... for me, anything that increases my dopamine such as aripiprazole (Abilify) or dare I say other dopamine agonists OR stress causes me to clench. I really dislike it.
Neuroleptic
I had this problem with Abilify too, but even worse, I now have to deal with tunnel vision because of this garbage med.
bluechick
I had this problem with Abilify too, but even worse, I now have to deal with tunnel vision because of this garbage med. Hey, don't knock abilify. It has been my wonder drug. Very few side effects, all of which have worn off now at the two month mark. I feel awesome. Lot of energy. No depression. No mania. I love this drug.
