Guest Vapourware
Ibuprofen is an OTC drug, so I thought it should be fairly benign. I have been taking it for joint pain. However, I've recently noticed a pattern. Whenever I've taken ibuprofen, I have gotten quite batshit. Has this happened to anyone else? Am I off-base to suspect ibuprofen can destabilise me? Eden
Though I can not think of a possible cause for such a reaction short of an allergy, Anything is possible. Can you describe the batshit? Is it possible there is another cause?
acquiring labels daily
I know that my pdoc has told me to be careful about non-steroidal medications- which would include ibuprofen. When we were talking about it he and I were discussing some of the stronger forms, but all of the NSAIDS can cause mood disturbance if you are sensitive to them. Definitely something to discuss with your own pdoc. And, uh maybe watch how much you are taking.....?
Guest Vapourware
Thanks. I had a quick look as well and there was one study re: ibuprofen and psychosis. I'm not taking more. I have been taking it for a few weeks. I thought it would be okay if I never took the max dose per day, but I guess not for me!
melissaw72
I am able to take it with my cocktail, never had a bad experience, but everyone is different so I wouldn't take it if you think there is a reaction, and ask pdoc about it.
Guest Vapourware
This is interesting, although it is ten years old: http://ajp.psychiatryonline.org/article.aspx?articleid=175770 A bit from the study: This patient had a psychotic episode characterized by prominent delusions and manic features. The symptoms were linked in time to his ibuprofen exposure and cleared up completely soon after this treatment was stopped.
crtclms
I had never heard of that before, not even a hint! That is genuinely amazing to me. When I read your OP, I thought for sure someone was going to say it was an interaction with one of your meds. You learn something new every day.
