CherryGirl
Does anyone know if Seroquel can cause irreversible damage to the histamine receptors?
Eden
I've found nothing to imply that it would. Are you worried it might happen or worried it has happened?
CookieN
I have never tried Seroquel and I don´t know any test that evaluates histamine receptors. However, when my pdoc decreased my cymbalta´s (antidepressant) dosage, I started having breathing problems I had never experienced before. I didn´t know what was happening so I went to my GP who told me I was having an allergic reaction and prescribed Zyrtec.
CherryGirl
I've found nothing to imply that it would. Are you worried it might happen or worried it has happened? I'm worried that it has happend. I took Seroquel for about 6 month and when I went off them I experienced bad itching all over my body and scalp + very dry skin on my face. I still have allergy symptoms in eyes, nose and the bodyitching comes and goes. I've had allergytests but I'm not allergic. It's been more than two years since I stopped taking the pills and I havn't taken any other medicin since. But the symptoms are still there. Kind of makes me wonder... Cherry Girl: besides of what I described before, I also experience itching while reducing dosage of cymbalta. It went away when my dose was increased. I thought that the itching was caused by poor circulation and sugar problems, but now that you mention histamine, I don´t know if it might be related to that. Eden
Though seroquel does act of histamine receptors, there's no evidence I know of to imply that they leave long term effects of any kind.
neingesicht
I think Zyprexa is kind of the same, but I don't think it's irreversable. It does seem like a long time. One way to find out would be to take a benadryl and see if that makes it go away. (or any antihistamine).
CookieN
I have taken Zyprexa for 6 years. For the past year, I´ve noticed I have new allergies and symptoms I didn´t have before. Like sneezing, runny nose and a weird symptom in the nose that won´t go away. I read that zyprexa works on histamine receptors. Could it be that my receptors turned more sensitive/sensible to histamine???. What are the long term effects of zyprexa on histamine receptors?
