alllowercase
Hi All Thought I would introduce myself... I've been fighting depression for as long as I can remember but my official diagnosis came at 16... I'm now 23. For the last 18 months I've jokingly said that my depression was "in remission" but lately it's come back full force. I'm an ex self-harmer but I've successfully resisted the urge to scratch that itch in any direct way for 2 years... though lately it's been incredibly difficult. I also have "some form of major personality disorder" as my old psych used to refer to it. He said due to my age he didn't want to share the diagnosis but I suspect BPD because my mother has it and I have ALOT of the indicators. Am in the process of finding a psych that will take on my case so I can adjust my meds (so over Cymbalta) and maybe give talking therapy another go (I've never had much luck with it TBH). Thought that maybe coming here could make the whole thing seem a bit less weird. Lately not only have I been numb but I've been getting mild hallucinations and everything feels like I'm dreaming it. Looking forward to being able to discern what is real again. Would love to chat to anyone... I've never really taken part in a forum before but hopefully this will go well! Cheers AUC
Mirazh
Welcome to CB. I too have struggled with depression, thought it was in remission, etc. And am currently dealing with resisting old SH urges. Good for you for stopping, BTW, and resisting. I know how hard that can be. My favourite thing about CB is how many people there are who know exactly what I'm going through. I hope you like it here just as much as I do.

Screamingbutterfly
Hey there and welcome! I've been diagnosed with depression since I was about 12 and have been in remission for a few months. I'm glad to hear that you have been resisting the urge to self harm. It's not easy when you are stressed. Hopefully you feel welcomed here. I'm still somewhat new and this board has helped me so much. I look forward to coming on here and talking to people. It's nice to meet you and I look forward to seeing more posts from you.
