dizzy86
Hey guys, As some of you may know I have terrible insomnia, I usually take 5 mg of Ambien and that used to work ok ish ( 2 weeks) I called the doc yesterday and he is now giving me Seroquel aswell for sleeping. He did tell me I should take a Rohypnol to not get addicted to Ambien, so I did that. I was able to fall asleep for 2.5 hours having the weirdest dream in my lifetime.. I woke up at 2.30 in the morning feeling very strange. I slept on and off for a while but I kept feeling strange... Is this witdrawel from Ambien? Or was it the Rohypnol? I used to sleep fine on Rohypnol, at least 6 hours straight.. Please advise
vanderk
Really hard to know. Rohypnol is better known for its' amnestic properties (hence its' reputation as a date rape drug). My hunch is that you are experiencing a kind of rebound-dream effect. People who are deprived of REM sleep for any kind of significant period will have some batshit crazy dreams when this is restored. Fortunately, this runs a time-limited course as lots of folks become downright phobic of sleep when this occurs.
AirMarshall
Seroquel is well known for causing intense and vivid dreaming (not bad, necessarily). It also is sedating at low dosages and upon commencing it, so it is common to be sleepy and 'hungover' upon awakening. It can be hard to separate from the dreams emotionally after waking. (my experience and comments of others). Rohypnol is kinda rare; the only comment is that reported in media of date rape victims feeling 'dazed or drugged' upon waking. a.m.
Gearhead
I can't address the rohypnol question, but I have struggled my entire life with insomnia and the best cocktail I've ever had for sleep is 12.5 mgs of Ambien CR combined with 50-75 mgs of Seroquel IR. I've been on it for years without developing a prohibitive tolerance or any kind of addiction to it...it just works. Ambien gets a bad rap for addiction, but it's like any other med: take it as directed, and be glad if it works.
