surreal
Why does it feel as if my dreams and nightmares are merging with one another? I awake from horrible dream and the feelings and experiences carry over and I cannot seem to forget them... they are so real. I feel as if I am slipping and will soon no longer be able to tell reality from unreality. Has anyone got any advice for me? Also, the only medications I am currently taking is the Zoloft, so I cannot place blame on Risperdal or Trazodone.I just woke up from a nap a little bit ago sweating and very fearful... I remember in the dreamstate that I had wondered and feared I was having a psychotic break due to the experience and darkness of the dream itself. It just... was eery and realisitc... Screamingbutterfly
I've had this problem when I have really bad dreams. Sometimes when people have night terrors when they wake up it takes a while to calm down and the terror feels very real. The only thing that helped me was telling my Dr. about it and they gave me medication for it. Sometimes mood stabilizers or anti anxiety medication is used. The one lurking behind you
I have the same experience, not being able to decipher dreams from reality, the lines are very blurred. I'm not sure what to do about it either so I don't really have any advice but I'm sure that meds can aid this.
gizmo
When I took seroquel I had dreams so vivid, scary, and real that it would literally take me a couple of hours after waking up to stop thinking of them. And I would wake up scared, out of breath, and sweaty. If I would wake up in the middle of the night, I would eventually fall back asleep and be submerged in the exact same dream. I have taken Zoloft withou side effects for years, so I'm not sure if dreaming is a side effect of it.
yara
Hi, I had vivid dreams when I was on the nicotine patch. My mother has them all the time though. She says she wakes, goes to the bathroom keeps dreaming and then she goes back to bed and catches up on the same dream. She says that is always like going through some ruins and seeing babies and weird shit like that. I know she takes xanax and some sort of anti-depressant (not zoloft). I've told her a million times to go to a pdoc and get other meds. She's 82, so she pretty much ignores my advice (and anyone else's) After all, she's been bipolar for more than 50 years, so she's pretty cavalier about it, I would go for a cocktail tuneup and see if that works. We have enough problems to have that kind of stuff happening to us. Good luck
enlightened_plutonian
I don't know if this is the same kind of thing that you are describing, so apologies if it isn't. I used to sometimes have this thing where I would dream something and the next day things that happened in my dream would become part of my reality. The time I remember the most was a dream I had where my family were there, and the next day I thought they had visited me overnight and installed cameras outside my home. Thankfully I haven't has this happen since I've been on the meds. At a guess I would say for me that it was linked to my psychosis, especially with the paranoia. But I couldn't say what is going on for you. This might be something worth bringing up with your doctor.
