Anxious and Self Conscious Newbie Here

Recommended Posts

Hello! I was referred here by a friend on another website as a place to get support, so this is my first time posting. :)

My name's S, and I'm a 22 (almost 23) year old female college drop out dealing with anxiety, depression, social phobia, and procrastination, and I think I may have underlying. undiagnosed ADHD. In the past I've dealt with an eating disorder, skin picking, trichotillomania, trichophagia, and PTSD-ish symptoms, so...yeah, I'm a big ball of crazy. It seems like once I get over one problem, another one pops up.

I'm so ashamed of my appearance and scared of rejection that I haven't managed to even *apply* for a job in a year. I've never had a boyfriend or girlfriend before, let alone been kissed. My dream of becoming a veterinarian is disappearing in front of my eyes...at this point, I don't even know if I'll be able to graduate from the university I started at.

Anyway, I just thought I'd post this here as a little introduction as to what I'm dealing with and some of my backstory.

Welcome to CB!

I can also relate to what you're saying. I'm also at uni... well, just had to suspend my studies on medical grounds, but I'm technically still a student.

Applying for jobs is so scary, isn't it? I'm terrified of having to do so (also terrified about going out into the real world...). But don't give up on your dream. I'm sure that you would be an amazing vet, and you can get there. Even if it takes a bit more time, or you take a different route than you first imagined. For me, remembering that I have these dreams gives me something to work towards, a way to see a future on the other side of the depression. I don't know if that's something that you can relate to... But don't give up. Our dreams are part of what makes us ourselves.

I hope that you find good help and support here at CB. :)

Hi there! Welcome to CB. I'm glad you found this place, and I hope you will find it helpful.

I'm 23 and can relate to most of what you wrote. I'm a big ball of crazy, too! ;)

I've been in school on and off for nearly six years, and I cannot tell you how many times I have dropped out and come back. There is nothing wrong with taking time to work on yourself. *You* and your wellness are most important.

Welcome to CB! I am glad you were referred to us. Lots of peer support here.

I am 26, trans guy, with a history of depression and anxiety, and a whole lot of people seem to think I have ADHD but I don't have an official diagnosis yet. I have dropped out of college twice due to my struggles with my mental health.

I do hope you enjoy it here as much as I do, and I haven't even been here for a year yet.

HELLO fellow anxietal skin picky person! I am secretly also one of those types :S Although perhaps it isn't a secret since I don't interact with anyone IRL to hide it from? I'm new here, too. I don't really know what I'm doing. But hello, and good evening.
