Luvox helps with OCD but does nothing for depression. Zoloft helps both depression and OCD. So I'm thinking of telling my pdoc to yank me off the Luvox. It has cause alot of weight gain and well if Zoloft is doing both jobs at once then I see no need for the Luvox. I know it's world renound for OCD but I think it's a crappy pill to be honest. Any advice?

Its uncommon to be prescribed two different ssris at once. Luvox does have a good reputation for treating OCD, though I would argue it is no better than the other ssris.

I don't think it would be unreasonable to discuss going off the luvox with your dr and giving zoloft a try on its own. A dosage adjustment may be necessary too.

From my experience and the words of my own psychiatrist, luvox is probably the worst of the ssri group due to its short half life (12 hrs) which means twice daily dosing is normally necessary. It can also cause agitation. So once again, discuss with p-doc.

I believe there is an extended release Luvox available now. Luvox CR. You only have to dose once a day.

I used it for OCD and it worked wonders. It's the only AD of that type that didn't make me manic within a few days.

If Zoloft works then by all means, talk to your pdoc and check into getting back on it.
