tryp
It could really be either. Personally, I switched to the generic a couple of years ago and I found that it was not nearly as effective for sleep and I ended up having to switch back to brand - but plenty of people take the generic just fine. It could definitely be breakthrough symptoms either. I would monitor the situation and if you really feel like you're flipping manic, give the doctor a call. Cacia
i'm on 100mg of seroquel and it only puts me out some nights and not others now. i think it gets less effective over time anyway? i started on 25, then 50, then 75 and they all worked for sleep at first and then stopped after a while, so might be that? larkspur
I went hypo/mixed despite 300mg, and it started with a return of my insomnia and irritability. Then I went up to 600mg and mania beat it. Yes, it can stop working. Not because Seroquel is bad, but because your MI is becoming symptomatic. I think that's much more likely than the generic being deficient. Time for a dose change or a new med?

gizmo
I quickly (like within 2 months) worked my way up from 25 mg to 200 mg for sleep, and every dose stopped working for me. I finally stopped taking it because, while it didn't help me fall asleep, I was tired all day the next day.

gizmo
Yes. I was on it for mood stabilization mostly, but being able to sleep was a nice way to keep my mood stable. If one goes out of whack the other will. Definitely talking to the doctor about it. 100 mg isn't really a theraputic level for mood stabilization. You generally have to reach at least 300 mg a day... Not sure if you are there or not cause I can't see signatures on my mobile phone.
lauraishere
Hmm, well it was working for me.

Thanks I don't have MDD by itself, so I don't have particular experience in this area. But the manufacturer's website recommends 150-300 mg of the XR: http://www.seroquelxrtouchpoints.com/major-depressive-disorder/seroquel-xr-dosage/ Perhaps someone here can help you more. Guest
You know, you probably need to call your pdoc. That would be the best solution. He/she knows your history and might even be able to tell over the phone how you're doing (mine can tell over the phone just by how I talk). If it were me, I'd be guessing that I was becoming symptomatic. Especially if the generic was working and now it isn't. Anyway, give your pdoc a call. bpladybug
You definitely should call your doctor. I am BP 1 and have taken Seroquel for several years, and I also can easily slip into a hypomanic episode. Baseed on my experience it sounds like you are switching into a mood episode and your dose is not enough to control that. But that is just based on my own life and experience. If your irritability is enough that you almost got into trouble with a cop!!! Danger! You need to talk with your doctor and get a grip on this before you get into trouble. Good luck! Thanks, Gizmo. My doc is suggesting 150mg xr to start. I'm hoping sedation isn't going to be too much of a problem at this dose. I see you switched it out for risperdal. Was that due to the sedation?
