december_brigette
MAJOR FREAK-OUT I was reading a member's blog and looking at a reply I made a few days ago. Underneath my avatar was how many posts I've made was: "0 warning points" that was click-able. It took me to a page that said I had no warning points. I didn't see this feature for anyone else. 1. if I had any warning points I wouldn't want anyone to know. 2. what the hell are warning points? And if I've done something majorly wrong I would expect a courtesy PM. db

amosleigh
I have warning point count of zero under my avatar when looking at a blog comment I made, just as you described. Hmmm. Baffled by what this means.
Guest Vapourware
To warn people for their actions on the boards, we give them a warning. Hence the points. You should only be able to see your own warning points, but not anyone else's. Staff can see everyone's warning points, on the the hand, but that's to be expected. Velvet Elvis
The last major upgrade of the software changed the warning system. It's been there for as long as we've been using IPB. Users didn't used to be able to see them but I guess now they can. I'll check in the morning to see if there's a setting that can be changed to make them invisible again. If you don't have any warning points that means that you've never been formally warned for any kind of infraction for as long as you've been a member. Cerberus
DB, for the vast majority of members, the Warning Points system is irrelevant; very few members ever do anything egregious enough to merit a warning from the staff. They're usually used if a member has been very very very very very rotten and there's some debate among the staff about whether a suspension or a ban is in order. Members are not excommunicated without a warning, and a chance to reform. The "points" thing is even a bit misleading, in that it isn't a cumulative system. Usually if a member is a big enough stinker to get two warns, the hammer's probably coming down. Anyway, don't worry about it - even if you got a warn point (you devil, you) nobody would see it but you and the Mods.
tryp
Yeah, zero means that nobody has ever activated the warning system about you. You would definitely get a PM if someone did. Weird that they're visible now.
netsavy006
I don't know if it is appropriate to ask here, but I'd like to know since it's on topic, how can I see how many warning points I have and for what?

The number of warning points you have is displayed under the number of postings you have. Underneath your avatar on the left hand side of your postings. You should be able to click on it. LunaRufina
I guess we'll discuss it as an admin team, but I'll say this right now. There is a section for mod notes that members can't see, and a section for member notes that address the member directly regarding the issue. I think the setup is much better than it used to be, actually and maybe we should keep it. In order to check your warning level, you can go to your profile and under your avater click the thing about warning points, I think.
