ahalo
I have a bad tremor from Lithium- my hands, arms, face, even legs. My doctor took me off it (cold turkey- which makes me raise an eyebrow but he's the pdoc not me). Does anyone know how long the tremors usually last once Lithium is d/c'd? Thanks!! gizmo
I still have a tremor, and I've been off lithium for more than a year. But it's not as bad as it was when I took it, and my current tremor is not guaranteed to be caused by the lithium. I'm planning on getting back on inderal once I go to dental hygiene school so that my hands will be rock steady (I took it when I took lithium to great success). But this is just me. I'm in no way saying that your tremor won't go away. I'm just relating my experience. I don't want to scare you!
Guest
I'd think you'd be starting to see less tremor in a week or less. That has been my experience.
yara
Agree wiith Sylvan. It takes two to three weeks to clear up. Drink plenty of fluid (just 6-8 glassses) a day. You may find that it was not the lithium but some other drug. I see you've tried cogentin before. You may consider it again for a little while. I take it now and it seems to work. My trembling was from another medication. Gizmo mentions inderal (which I've never taken). I'm going to talk to my pdoc about it. good luck...if you need support, we are here... Guest
Inderal works wonders. My hands are very steady while taking it.
Guest
Inderal (propranolol) is great for treating the tremor caused by lithium. You might want to ask your pdoc for some to help with the tremor until you get all the lithium out of your system. Bonus--propranolol is dirt cheap. crtclms
Gizmo, I bet the Depakote is giving you the tremor. I had such an obvious tremor that random people remarked upon it the entire time I was on it.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll keep it in mind when asking the pdoc for inderal.
