theshade89
Hi all, just putting up a quick question to see where to find the best price on generic Seroquel. I'm in between insurance coverage so the $205 Walgreens is trying to gouge me for is a bit steep, I've checked around a few other places and they all seem to be pretty high (for a generic at least). I noticed Costco carries the Dr. Reddy's generic for $14 and some change for a 30 day supply of 100mg tabs, although driving there is a bit of a stretch for me. Any ideas or suggestions on where the best place to look is would be greatly appreciated!
llama44
Have you tried your plan's mail in pharmacy? They are usually cheaper. If you have that option, that is. Hope that helps!
gizmo
Have you tried ordering it online through pharmacies such as CVS or Rite Aid? I can't remember now if Costco does online fillings or not - check their website. When I was undergoing infertility treatments years ago, my meds weren't covered by insurance. So I found CVS (now a local pharmacy for me, but not back then) offered the medication through mail order and shipped the meds to me at more than half off walgreens. Filling procedures differ, but what happened in my case was that I faxed them the script and my ID, and the contacted the prescribing doctor before filling the script. jt07
Don't forget to check with the small pharmacies. I get my Lamotrigine at least $100 cheaper than Walmart at a local mom-and-pop pharmacy. I also got risperidone there for $20.
Kaashii
Take a look around at your local pharmacies and supermarket pharmacies and see if any of them price match. Where I am, Kroger will price match to Costco's prices, so it saves me the 45-minute drive to Costco if I take a printout of their price with me. (You can check prices on Costco's website for almost everything, so it's fairly easy to print out a copy of the prices for whatever you need.) AirMarshall
I don't think you can beat $13! I went to check an online drugstore that I have used as a reference for years, and they got bought out by Walgreens! Huh.

I went to check an online drugstore that I have used as a reference for years, and they got bought out by Walgreens! Huh. Yeah, Costco's prices are pretty hard to beat anywhere. My pdoc is very savvy when it comes to helping the uninsured find the best prices, and she was the one who pointed me to their website and also told me about the price matching. I still can't get over the huge differences. They're a little bit of a pain in terms of availability sometimes, but even with the gas prices, it has generally been worth the 45-minute trip. As far as the price matching thing goes, I've found that the supermarket pharmacies are usually the best about it. Most of the big chains, including Wally World and Target either don't match at all, or won't match to Costco. Kmart, I think, will only price match to anyone in a certain radius. It never hurts to call around and ask.
theshade89
I appreciate all the feedback--I checked around at various pharmacies including CVS, Fry's (Kroger), Walmart and Target. They all seem to be around the same price; Fry's was the lowest at $165. Think I will probably just mail order from Costco to reduce gas/time cost and save a lot of money. I did ask the pharmacies about price matching, no dice there. Guess they aren't willing to charge a reasonable price for a "new" generic. I checked on it, Walgreens charges almost as much for the generic as they do for the brand Seroquel! Absolutely outrageous.
g8orgirl
Generic Seroquel is now available in the US? I remember my pdoc telling me awhile ago it was going generic but I wasn't sure when. Does anyone know when the generic became available?

that crazy TV guy
AFAIK generic Seroquel is not available in the US. Consumers got the hose job again as the manufacturer was granted another patent extension on a really old medication.

I just picked up a generic seroquel script covered by my insurance as recently as two months ago, so it's most certainly available in the US.
