Where am I?

Recommended Posts

This past year has messed me up. Wife diagnosed bipolar I with delusions and psychosis during an extended manic episode and has since left me for reasons she has never been able to articulate although what she has come up with changes every month or so. There's always a new reason, none of which really make sense. I'm struggling with anxiety now. I can't go into places like Walmart during the day anymore. All the people and activity sends me over the top.

Guess I'm here to figure out what I need to do for myself and to better understand what's going on with my wife.

No, it's just that we are a website for crazy people, run by crazy people. If you want your wife to come here and learn about her mental illness, that's fine. If you want to deal with your MI issues, that's fine.

If you read the user agreement, you will get a better idea of what we're about. I hope you will stick around and maybe we can offer you some support and information.

That's the thing though. She says she accepts her diagnosis but doesn't understand it and doesn't want to understand it so she will never get help. I'd love for her to come here but I can't even get her to read an article, a book or a website.

But we can't possibly be expected to know what your wife is thinking, and tell you ways to effectively communicate with her. BP is not a one-size-fits-all disease. It doesn't make us affected with it think in the exact same way. I could be in her shoes and think entirely different. Hell, I am in her shoes and think entirely different. That's why we are unable for you to come here and try to understand your wife.

A therapist is a good person to talk to about your issues. They can listen to your unique situations and give you advice on how to cope with the stressful events happening in your life right now. Unfortunately, we are the crazies around here, and we can't help you help her just as we can't help our own significant others help themselves.

I'm sorry this site isn't the help you are looking for. But if you want to stay and talk about your own anxieties such as not being able to go to stores, there is an anxiety and a social anxiety forum. You will just have to leave out the parts about your wife and her MI.
