here goes, I have been diagnosed as bipolar for the past 10 years and just discovered that I am not bipolar and am Histrionic BPD. Not that it really matters but I cant believe it has been missed. So I wont go on about being frustrated but I am. It makes me feel a little better to see it on paper but it cant be treated and frankly I dont want to get better even though it causes me problems with relationships and constant men in and out of my life. Anyone that has dealt with this, suggestions?

Hi bunnie, and welcome to Crazyboards.

I'm sorry that you were misdiagnosed---I think that happens more often than people realize. Anyway, I find it hard to believe that any illness or condition can't be treated. There may not be medications for it, but there are therapy techniques and EMDR and other things that our members have used to deal with BPD.

We advocate treatment for our mental illnesses. Many of us believe in a combination of therapy, medications, and a healthy lifestyle. I hope you will change your mind about not being treated because it could really improve your quality of life.

If you want to talk about BPD with our members who are dealing with it, post in the BPD forum and I'm sure some of them will share their experiences.

Welcome to CB.

Actually, BPD is treatable. I'm in treatment for it, and there are several other members who are going through or have gone through treatment for BPD. Check out the BPD forum - there's lots of info about treatment for BPD over there.

I will say this, though: the first step is wanting to get better. If you don't want to get better then the therapy is probably not going to be very effective.
