Can anyone tell me if they had any experience adding lamictal to this mix to help with severe depression. If not, how about any other experience with an additional RX. Batou Posted November 1, 2005 Share Posted November 1, 2005 I did take Wellbutrin and Depakote together for a couple of years. I switched from Depakote to Lamictal about two years ago, was still taking the Wellbutrin. At one time in order to help kick me out of a depression pdoc did suggest adding back the Depakote. Have you talked to your pdoc, or is this what he/she is suggesting? I can't say if it is a do-able cocktail, only remember my pdoc suggesting adding the Depakote back at one time. Lamictal, for me and for may others, is an excellent AD and mood stabilzer. It may be possible for you to add the Lamictal and drop the Depakote. Ask your pdoc. You have to slowly taper up on the Lamcital, and you will have to do it even more slowly if you are taking Depakote. Erika Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Sam56 Posted November 1, 2005 Share Posted November 1, 2005 FWIW, my wife has been taking Depakote and Wellbutrin in combo for a number of years. She told me the generic form of Wellbutrin sent her into a manic episode that was practically frightening. Just thought I'd toss this out there, in case you or anyone else is reading this thread and is having a bad experience using generic Wellbutrin. The real stuff works like a charm on DW.
