Did I deserve to get sworn at?

I'm in my 20's and have never been a fitness/sporty type of guy. A joined a gym last year. When I look back my behaviour was a bit off. I kept changing personal trainers and my exercise program a lot. I "think" I was talking and laughing to myself and others "might" of saw that.

Anyway, I told one of the gym staff "all I ate were egg whites" then on the way out one of them very very sarcastically said "eat some fucking carbohydrates" and "maybe some nuts or cashews" in extreme sarcasm.

I told my psych about this and he said

"it's not your fault but YOU weren't training and clearly weren't eating properly and THEY found out plus you"re weird/antisocial behaviour sort of invites people like personal trainers to talk to u like that."

I think that was a bit too much for your pdoc to say that. If anything, he could have put more nicely. A pdoc telling a patient straight out that they have "weird/antisocial behavior ...", whether they do or not isn't the point of all of this IMO. And no matter who it is, and what the circumstances are, you don't doesn't deserve to be talked to that way no one does.

You didn't 'deserve' to be sworn at, but if you don't want that kind of reaction from people, you're going to have to keep your arrogance in check and learn from trainers, rather than try to one up them all the time. People have little patience for people who brag and can't be humble.

I don't think it was personal info, but if you were quitting trainers and getting new ones and bragging about your diet with them, it probably came off as you being a bit superior and know it all. Whether or not you meant it that way, you have to take responsibility for the way you come across. You can't be weird and rude and expect people to accommodate you because you didn't mean it that way.

You have responsibility for how you express yourself so the message doesn't get lost in translation..

I accept that and i'll learn from it.

When I told my brother he reacted by saying

"U were tired all the time coz all u ate were egg whites and u actually told the trainers THAT? Even if u weren't at the gym your old enough to know HOW to eat properly..."

I've always had problems with personal trainers at gyms. They don't say it but I can see in their faces that their frustrated and mad towards someone who is overweight/obese, doesn't follow instructions, doesn't eat properly, ditches trainers and getting new ones and changes their program constantly ALL in less than 3 months.

Why wouldn't they get frustrated with clients like that? If someone was paying you to help them, and they ignored everything you tried to tell them and do to help them, wouldn't you get frustrated? I mean, it's your money, I guess, but it's also rude to ignore their efforts to help you and behave with ingratitude.

Unless you understand all that, and are just being sarcastic in your last post. It's hard to tell.

I'll learn from this mistake.

Also, if I was a personal trainer and I had a client like that I would politely say to them "LEAVE".
