Rose
Did anyone have this when they took antipsychotics? My first med respiridone knocked me out But when I went on Zyprexa I had pacing really bad. It took ages for me to fall asleep. Then switched to 5mg Abilify where the pacing got worse. The symptoms seemed to go away once the Abilify dose was increased. Strange. notfred
Do you feel compelled to pace and do you feel restlessness ? Does the pacing reduse the feelings of anxiety or restlessness ?
vanderk
This sounds very much like Akathisia. Call your pdoc as soon as you can. An antiparkinsonian such as Cogentin, Artane or Amantadine could be in your future. Some antihypertensives are also used. In the interim, consider Benedryl. Unless you've taken it before and it made you agitated/wired.

koali777
I paced on Abilify and Risperdal...hardcore. I probably looked hilarious. It was the restlessness. I rocked myself on Geodon. As they say, Benadryl, or ask pdoc for a different anticholergenic.
Guest
If you got better with a higher dose, I doubt that it is akathisia. I'd think it would get worse with a higher dose. Since it appears to have stopped, it probably isn't worth calling your pdoc but I would mention it at your next appointment.
Rose
Thanks everyone. The pacing is still there but not to the extent it was when i was on 5mg. I still pace but only when I am axious, it relieves the anxiety to some extent i suppose.
konings
I "picked up" pacing from drugs that initially caused it. Now I do it rarely - only when I'm overexcited or need to think things over. The only drug Ive taken for it is an antocholinergic (trihexyphenidyl), but that might be too strong to be necessary for you anymore. But if you treat the pacing you can find out whether, if there's any, subjective discomfort comes from the pacing or the anxiety.
