mamadweezil
hi, i have permanent insomnia. without all my seroquel and remeron i won't sleep a wink. very few things work. that said, i'm stuck on trying to help my friend. he takes effexor for his moods and anxiety and i notice his anxiety is still quite high (he dumps his breath, shakes, has restless legs, gasps on occassion) but he also has impossible insomnia. if he takes some kind of over the counter sleep aid he might get some sleep. he's tried tryptophan, and melatonin with little success. like me, he waits to get drowsy and then never ends up falling asleep. i've suggested that he take his meds and then go to bed at a set time, instead of waiting to be drowsy. i'm not sure what else to suggest since i have no luck myself. he can't afford much, he's on welfare so prescriptions are covered up here in canada. thanks. tryp
Generally speaking, it is very hard for us to give advice on a third party who isn't actually here in front of us. Maybe you could get him to come here and ask himself? You could also have a look at the pinned topic on insomnia in this sub-forum - it has a lot of helpful advice and med lists. HAL9000
I use Ambien CR. Everything else was a bust. Trazadone, Meletonin, ahhh... Benadryl, there was one other.... Humm... I'll remember it later.
