when in bed = different person and can't get to sleep

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

Why is it that when I am in bed trying to get to sleep I would be always thinking about my heart and my health, etc. And like if I would turn over I would think I would got a blood clot... (i don't even know what a blood clot is, I just seen the word and it happened to someone )...

And I would be turning and my heart so fast and blood pressure and everything... and if I get up turn on the light and everything then I'm just fine.

why is this?.

Thank You.

I think its because your mind is relatively quiet as compared to the rest of the day when you have a lot to think about it. My mind races when I try to go to sleep and its a very unpleasant feeling. I usually just have to keep telling myself that my mind will calm down and try to breathe deeply.

Wow I could've written this post! When I go to sleep at night my mind seems to fixate on my heart, and sometimes there's a weird pressure in my left lung area that I'm sure I wouldn't notice if I weren't hyper-vigilant suddenly at night. I'm fairly certain my mind may be making it (the pressure) up because its not always there unless I suddenly think about it. Anyway, just wanted to say I have the same problem. I found that taking Ativan before sleeping really helps. So I think it must be anxiety.
