Sky-
Hi all, Why is it that when I am in bed trying to get to sleep I would be always thinking about my heart and my health, etc. And like if I would turn over I would think I would got a blood clot... (i don't even know what a blood clot is, I just seen the word and it happened to someone )... And I would be turning and my heart so fast and blood pressure and everything... and if I get up turn on the light and everything then I'm just fine. why is this?. Thank You. wj74
Sounds kind of panic attackish to me. My sister used to have something like that but I'm not sure if she ever figured out why. I know she was on celexa and it helped her.
Phoenix_Rising
I think its because your mind is relatively quiet as compared to the rest of the day when you have a lot to think about it. My mind races when I try to go to sleep and its a very unpleasant feeling. I usually just have to keep telling myself that my mind will calm down and try to breathe deeply. crtclms
Do you have a history of heart problems and/or bad health?
lavender fairy
It could be panic, but there could also be something physical going on to cause it. I think it's a good idea to see a GP and have physical causes ruled out before assuming it's just panic.
Alien Navel Cord
Wow I could've written this post! When I go to sleep at night my mind seems to fixate on my heart, and sometimes there's a weird pressure in my left lung area that I'm sure I wouldn't notice if I weren't hyper-vigilant suddenly at night. I'm fairly certain my mind may be making it (the pressure) up because its not always there unless I suddenly think about it. Anyway, just wanted to say I have the same problem. I found that taking Ativan before sleeping really helps. So I think it must be anxiety.
