Risperdal and Sensitive Breasts?

Recommended Posts

Ever since my pdoc put me on Risperdal, my breasts have felt weird.  They're tender all the damn time.  A casual grope from my husband elicits a pain response instead of the amusement it used to engender.  I know I'm not pregnant, and I'm not on hormonal birth control, so it can't be either of those...  I know Risperdal can make some people lactate, but has anyone heard of just getting sore breasts?

Thanks.

Hi! When I was on Risperdal I had sore breasts also. They also got much larger than they are now. I thought that was great until I got the lactation. Thats why I stopped the med. Sounds gross but I have to say check and if you can squeeze anything out of your breast, even a drop call your doc for a prolactin check. I wish this side effect wasn't a bad one because it is not like I had a lot of milk, only drops, but I guess it isn't good for your body to be lactating when it shouldn't. Too bad I liked having big ones lol! Anyway, keep an eye on things and keep checking things out especially if your doc increases your dosage.

this is coming from a guy. My nipples are quite sensitive on Risperdal. I would also wager that my man boobs are a little bigger. Now if I start lactating, My pdoc will get an earful. I read some time ago that has happened to us guys too.

That would totally freak me out, if I was a guy.  Hell, it would freak me out if I were to start lactating!

I can deal with a little sensitivity, given that Risperdal is the first AP to stop my hallucinations.  I just wanted to find out if it was just me.

Thanks for the input, everybody.

From out of left field:

I'm a guy too, and I occasionally get the tender nipple thing from Adderall. Particularly if I'm doing something that makes me extra cranked, like moving. Just ducky when you've got big, heavy, rough things to carry leaning against your chest all day. No enlargement of the rest of the area, tho. I'd bet I'd look a bit odd in a thin shirt when I'm having that problem.
