lostinafog
I am new to this sort of thing but it looks like a great idea. I had been on Effexor for 2 years when my clinic switched my Pdoc. I was switched slowly to wellbutrin and lamictal. We used the starter pack. My depression went wild and lately I have trouble speaking. Also beware. I used Airborne (a powerhouse of vitimins and herbs to prevent or stop a cold). I became delusional. I was afraid to drive a car. My Pdoc is asking me to be patient. I am on 300 wellbutrin and 100 lamictal. I want your feedback please.
Fiona
The Lamictal should help you with the delusional aspect of your depression. 100mg is not a large dose, so you're like to find yourself going higher -- though the increase will still have to be frustratingly slow. Like your pdoc says, hold on while the medication starts working. Fiona
Guest billycat
HI. That combo has worked well for me.. Tried to go to 450mg. of welbutrine but it gave me bad headaches. I'm currently working up 200mg. of lamictal. Be paient and stay with it you may find the results to be good.....it seems that alot of people really have success with it. NARS
It sounds like if you're still taking Airborne it's time to stop if at all possible. It's likely that it has some herbal analog to decongestants, which has always made me manic. So even though it's herbal, it's probably affecting your mood. Check all the ingredients on aidsmeds.com if you want to get more info. As you can see below, I'm on 300 wellbutrin and 300 lamictal. I found--and this is just me, of course--that at low doses I wasn't stable, but it got better once I got above 100 and even better at 200. But after 6 weeks at that dose I got mixed states again and I had to both drop my wellbutrin from 450 to 300, switch to the SR form of wellbutrin so the blood level could drop at night, and increase the lamictal from 200 to 300. Now I'm doing well, though I suspect I'm still taking too much wellbutrin. You may find that once you stabilize on lamictal you may be able to reduce the wellbutrin to avoid mania. But it's best to stabilize first, even with the wellbutrin. You can always try reducing the lamictal after you reduce the wellbutrin, if you want to and your pdoc agrees. But IMHO this kind of tweaking should take months. In the meantime, you'll hopefully still feel a whole lot better than now.
