Min
So my pdoc prescribed me klonopin like some months ago or whatever but my insurance only covers the generic and I guess it's working, but recently i've still been having panic attacks so i'm wondering, how different is clonazepam from klonopin? i want to switch to ativan, since while in the ER i was given it so i'd calm down and it worked GREAT, but i dunno, she may just need to up the dosage. right now i'm on 1mg 3 times daily but i rarely get the 3 in because i just forget. is it possible to take it all at once? or would that fuck me up real bad? Min
is it possible to take it all at once? or would that fuck me up real bad? I suppose you could take it all at once, but then you might be asleep for the rest of the day. Klonopin/Clonazepam is the strongest of the benzo family. I have taken the generic for years, if you read about Klonopin on the Crazy Meds site it will give you all the info you need on this med vs. generic. You are taking a pretty high dose of Clonezapam. If this isn't working, perhaps you need to explore some other things in addition to the meds. Like meditation, yoga, or any aerobic excersise. Works great for anxiety and warding off anxiety and panic attacks. In other words, the meds will not do it alone. Look into some alternative things you can do along with the Clonzapam. right now i'm on 1mg 3 times daily but i rarely get the 3 in because i just forget.Try taking the correct dose at the correct time and see if this doesn't help too. And read the Craz Meds section. Breeze <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I'm also concerned about the depression it can cause to bipolar patients in long term use. I'm BPI, so I don't really think.....Clon is the best choice. My pdoc probably knows better but it makes me a little scared. I need to call her on Monday and ask for an appointment ASAP.....she moved mine ALL the way to December 5th. >_<
Breeze
OK, now you are in a land I know nothing about. I have GAD, and am not BP. So, yeah, you need to ask your p-doc. But reading the Crazy Meds page can really help too. A lot of times Jerod brings up interesting things that you can relay to your p-doc. I have found it gets their attention in a hurry when you know of what you speak. good luck. breeze

I just happen to be bipolar and on a med that has depression as a side effect in bipolar people. >>
sun_zoom_spark
Yes, benzos can caused depression if taken in large quantities for extended periods of time. Yes, clonazipam is crap and Klonopin is reliable. I was having problems with my old pharmacy concerning clonazipam. Seems I kept getting pills at same dose with different colors. Some colors didn't do squat. Later found out they were from different manufacturers. Pharmacist is buying cheapest product and passing it off as real deal. Bull. Now I buy KLONOPIN. No more problems. Thomas
I get the "self-disintegrating wafers" of real Klonopin. Really seems to be making a difference for me.
Min
I'd love to try to real stuff....but my insurance won't cover it and I can't pay for it myself.

So she just takes the pink now. I talked with p-doc about it. They all are supposed to have the same ingriedient that is the "benzo part" in them. But different companies use different fillers. That is the part that can not sit well with some people. I have had no problems, and either has DH, with either color. But it is true, and it is weird. Don't feel alone, most insurance companies won't give you the real deal. Ask your p-doc to prescribe it specifically, maybe that will work. username
I am in the UK and am not fully aware of the law that governs generic quality. But I have always found that the generic benzos are just as good as the brand name benzos.
groovyone
I had a problem with the Clonazepam and depression after I had been on it for a while so yes, it can happen. Not with everyone but with some people. It may just be that this particular benzo may not be the right one for you. Everyone is different. If you had good experience with Ativan then yes, you should mention that. Good luck with your appointment. Karen
lei
i "only" have anxiety disorders but to address a couple things here: i couldn't tell the difference between the klonopin/clonazepam forms, but i like valium better anyway. and benzos wouldn't be nearly as successful a solution for me without therapy and self-help techniques. however i have needed them to function well enough to do those things and to live in general, at least for now. and i'm very careful about my dosage schedule. aloha

I grew tired of my clonazepam not working. I read his column and switched to Klonopin and have had no problems since. Thanx J. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Glad to hear the Klonopin is working for you! Bohemian
Min: I take 2mg TID of Klonopin and 1mg TID of Ativan. It works great. Try upping the dose on Klonopin, I'm sure it will help. I've always used the generic ones, but I could ask if I could have the non-generic. Best, Chris
divinedesign21
Funny thing is that I have a diff experience with Klonopin. I used to get the wafers but I recently switched pharmacies and they gave me clonazepam and I like it better. I had to take 3mg of the wafers to get the same effect of one clonazepam (1mg) tablet.
