GreenGal
Hey Guys, I've read about benzos pooping out on some people (which I assume is different from developing a tolerance) and I'm wondering what the best thing to do in that situation is. I was on 0.5mg in the afternoon and 1mg at night which was just changed to 1.25 at night (most pdoc was willing to do) but he made it quite clear he would increase it no more and it's just not enough...he wants me on an AP instead. I refuse to take an AP and I hate that I'm having to suffer when there are so many other benzos out there. I assumed that maybe switching to a different one might help? Am I right on that? Rather than simply increasing the dosage of the Klonopin? Also, my "main" problem is sleeping...I mean, I get lots of daytime panic attacks, mood swings, agitation etc...but the biggest issue is when I try and sleep, so I'm wondering if something like Ambien or Lunesta would be better, but I'm terrified of never being able to sleep again without it. Plus, do you eventually build up a tolerance to them as well? Thanks, Kelly
sun_zoom_spark
How long have you been taking benzos? Klonopin should knock it out in a manner of a few months. Clonazepam may not.

Clonazepam may not. <{POST_SNAPBACK}> I've been taking benzos for a long time, I used to just take small doses of Ativan as needed (for a few years) and have been on the Klonopin for about 3 months now. It's actually technically clonazepam...does that make a difference? I don't even think they offer the brand name "Klonopin" in Canada, so I know I've been getting the Clonazepam. lei
copied from other posts i made tonight: i've been most pleased that valium lasts me all night so i don't get as many nightmares or wake up panicky. i find it smoother, not wearing off so fast. i also found klonopin gave me a cottony feeling in my head and mouth which i don't get with valium. and for eventual tapering, valium is generally considered best (see sticky in this topic). and: i couldn't tell the difference between the klonopin/clonazepam forms i tried. just my experience. i hope it's helpful. aloha

groovyone
any one find that sticky on valium being the best? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi monty, I'm not sure what you're referring to about the "sticky." Everyone responds differently to all meds, benzos certainly being no exception. We would never put a sticky at the top of the board saying that valium is the best benzo. Sorry if I'm misinterpreting what you're asking but that's usually what we mean by a sticky around here. Karen
Guest Monty
Hi, I was reading the post a couple up from mine and it reads that Valium is generally considered the best for tapering, and "refer to the sticky in this post" But I can't find this sticky? any one find that sticky on valium being the best? <{POST_SNAPBACK}> Hi monty, I'm not sure what you're referring to about the "sticky."
