inthedark
HI all, Has anyone else experienced the following with geodon and/or abilify? -Inability to breathe through nose about 1 hour after taking pill -nose is not congested -putting on an anti-snoring nose strips helps breathing -almost like inside of nose swells up This does not occur with with other AAP's. Thanks! Frank
Indigo 'n dye
See your PCP or an ENT. I have never known those anti-snore strips to do anything but cost money. ETA an AWOL "n"
your_illusion97
I was on Abilify for years and never experienced that, now I'm on Geodon and never anything like that either.
larkspur
I experienced that exact same thing on Seroquel and Geodon. Aside from inducing some anxiety, it's a pretty harmless side effect of most AAPs.
melissaw72
I am on abilify and have never experienced those side effects; however I have allergies which require Flonase, so I'm not sure if the Flonase would be helping the stuffed nose *IF* it was a side effect of abilify. Before the Flonase though, I never had the symptoms you mentioned.
Eden
Two AAPs only double the risk of this side effect, I get it from seroquel, geodon and abilify, it seems to be caused by an inflammation of the glands in your nose/sinuses. It sucks but it's nothing to worry about. Just take em at night and try to sleep through it.
inthedark
Thanks much. Nice to see someone else has experienced the same thing. I should have made a point that I was taking abilify and geodon at different times with the same side effect, not together. cheesecake
I get the same thing on olanzapine. About an hour after taking it I cannot breathe through my nose. It lasts about an hour.
notfred
It is not uncommon for the lining of the nose to swell to the point that nostril is closed. Generally an allergic reaction. This happens further up the nose, where the opening is quite small. It is my primary allergy symptom day to day, no congestion but nose closed. I suspect that is what is happening here. Pamito
I get it on Seroquel sometimes. My nose is blocked shut, it's unpleasant! It doesn't happen every night though.
melissaw72
Maybe try Flonase ... works wonders for me. (it is a nasal spray)
konings
Pretty sure I got this same thing, but it was without APs, not on them. Sudafed ought to help - nose is swollen up at the back.
neingesicht
I get this same kind of thing, but it feels like it's in the back of my throat... I'm not actually choking but it is alarming.
