Rose
I want to know why is it that when I try to halve my antipsychotic I have to keep walking like anything. I thought this was the side effect of the med but why is it I walk like this only when I go down a dose? My second opinion psychiatrist seems to think it was part of mania but I had no other symptoms of mania. It is not withdrawal. I had the same experience when i started the med and even before that when they put me on Zyprexa. Did this happen to anyone else? Do all meds do this? I still occasionally pace and walk like this but its not as bad as when I was on a 5mg dose of Abilify.
gizmo
It sounds like a classic case of akathesia. Have you tried cogentin or artane? They both work well in controlling akathesia. A benzo can work as a short-term band-aid. You can try taking one and see if the walking goes away, but it's not a reliable test as to whether cogentin or artane will work.
