water
Today is the same brilliant blue sky, windy dry day. I will never forget.
tryp
I haven't forgotten either. It's been 5 years since I lived in the city but I often wish I could be in NYC on the anniversary, to remember with everyone.
AirMarshall
Yep. Still after reflecting, I'm in the mood to move on rather than dwell on the events of that day. We have come up a long road since then.
december_brigette
It still upsets me quite a bit. Ok, really a lot. Even though I was in florida at the time very far from the sites it is still troublesome. I can't watch any footage. I don't want to imagine...but thats all I can do is that its a feeling similar to people who were around when Pearl Harbor happened. My grandma was alive, living, and working on the west coast at the time but she has always refused to talk about it. I'm not trying to compare apples and oranges. I'm just describing that feeling of someone invading our country. And its scary as hell. db
Guest
I still think of the embassy staff I worked with that week and how hard it was to get comms back after it happened. As a Brit I don't have to same resonance with it, but I remember our involvement and how terrified and devastated our US friends were.
Guest Vapourware
It's one of those events where you don't expect it to happen. That's why it was such a shock, at least to me. Plus it was all filmed. RIP
crtclms
I'm ready to move on, too. Don't get me wrong, I had a friend from college in one of the planes that hit the towers, and all those deaths were a tragedy. But I feel like we are making it into a national holiday. tryp
I still have a lot of nightmares about it - I think it's nice to have one day where I'm not the only one thinking about it. Not that I think about it EVERY day or anything, but I would say I still have PTSD symptoms related to it on a weekly-monthly basis. I mean, if I hadn't already had PTSD that probably wouldn't be happening, but I still think it's nice to all remember together.
Gearhead
Steve Reich wrote a magnificent piece for the Kronos Quartet to perform called WTC 9/11. I'm not going to include a link to it here because I think it would be very triggery, but it's an amazing ~15 minute encapsulation of that terrible day. Reich talks about the music in an NPR interview.
