New to the boards but in need of support and information.

My pdoc took me off lamictal cold turkey. Told me I'd feel nothing. Needless to say I am a freaking mess.

It's been a week and I still can't get right.

I'm suffering worse than before I started the lamictal.

Cognitively I'm totally off, can't walk right I'm off balance, my head feels too heavy to hold up and the headaches are awful. I wanna cry all the time or scream and run away from myself.

This is really frightening.

Btw.... The reason I went off was because it made me speed

Man was I out of control.

Anyone else suffering from lamictal withdrawal. I could use a friend and whatever info you can share. I feel like I'm going crazy

I've quit it cold turkey several times. No problems at all. Actually, I felt worlds better off of it because the headache I'd had the entire time I was on it finally went away.

Are you on any other meds? You don't give your diagnosis. You talk about being speedy. Are you bipolar? If so, Lamictal isn't usually very good at controlling mania.

Thanks for your replies.

I had titrated up to 200mg and by that point I was literally bouncing. My pdoc was away so I titrated down to 125. The pdoc told me to stop takeing it at all at 125 mgs.

Dx was slight mood disorder which was then changed to a pd.

There is alot of evidence that lamictal can make someone angry and aggressive and speedy. In my case it was like drinking 20 shots of espresso.

I ran out of Lamictal when I went away one weekend and felt AWFUL. I really feel for you. There's no way I'd go cold turkey. Unless you're really crazy, it seems reasonable to wean off of it even if you need to take a tranquilizer while you do.

I am getting off Lamictal too. I am not doing it cold turkey though. I was at 100 and have worked my way down to 75 in the last few days. So far, I feel really dizzy and spacey. Would anyone else care to share their experience? Does anyone have any idea how long the withdrawal symptoms will last after I stop or if they will get worse while I continue to cut down?

Have your symptoms gotten better, dee28?
