OBAMA does not keep billions in off shore accounts. Arbitrage, leveraged buyouts, raiding pensions, laying off americans and ouysourcing their jobs overseas - this is everything ugly, greedy, and unpatriotic about Mr. Romney. As nice a man as he seems his career is despicable. Mass. Was in terrible shape after his one term as Governor.

PLUS he put his dog in a crate and strapped it to the roof of his car for a LONG vacation drive!!

WHAT sort of person does that???? How could u sleep at night if you closed a plant, laid off 20,000 people, sent their jobs to Asia, destroying a town's economy and tens of millions or hundreds of millions in the process. He is the FUCKING imbodiment of the Corporate greed which is destroying our country. Plus he abused his dog.

Opinions! are they not wonderful? We each have, or so it seems, at least one about the presidential nominees. A very wise person once said that opinions are like rectums, we each have one and think that all rectums stink, with the exception of our own.

My hope is to one day be able to cast my vote FOR someone rather than AGAINST someone.

ETA: I apologize in advance for the questions, but does posting twice make our opinions stronger?!

note: one of my posts posted twice because I was posting from my phone...and I am too old for that.

My desktop CRASHED from a fucking malware virus, and my laptop battery died and must be ordered.

So I am stuck with my phone.

I dod not post twice on purpose, obviously.....

With the exception of a few social and monetary issues, very little seperates republicans and democrats - it's essentially one party system with a more liberal wing and a more conservative wing. At the end of the day, both parties are beholden to their corporate underwriters - Obama's Whitehouse has been every bit as downright evil and beholden to corporate interests as Bush's - unfortunately, liberals have given him a free pass. If you can't see it, you're simply not paying attention.

So, to make a long story short - I'll be voting for Jill Stein.

By no means am I sticking up for Romney - but if we're to be honest with ourselves, what sort of person authorizes the killing of civilians?

Thanks for explaining that, goodoldneon. Because being a political junkie and a lawyer, I only have the most rudimentary understanding of the history of the political system and our parties, That, and our long-time tendency to commit war crimes totally eluded me.

Having said that, Obama v Romney? Don't make me laugh.

Plus, do you think Romney won't use signature strikes if he has the chance? Do you think that he won't go to war with Iran, for that matter?

I won’t argue the details – because frankly, I really and truly no longer care which franchise wins – and, I’ve had this discussion about one hundred times too many – but at the end of the day, ten, twenty or forty years from now, the system, such as it is, will look very much like it does today because it’s not broken. In the eyes of the majority it may appear as though it’s not working – and increasingly, it’s not – but the government isn’t set up to help them, as was made obvious by the financial meltdown (which also served as the largest upward redistribution of wealth in history) – and their needs, always, always, always come first.

I came across this quote recently – I think it’s an excellent summation of our current political system:

“One day the truth came to me. A wise man once said that every system is designed to give you the results you actually get. If you understand that, you’ll see that this system is working.

“For some people,” Pepper said.

Dr. Anand shook his head emphatically. “No. Wrong. The system is working exactly right for those it was intended for. That’s why it hasn’t been fixed. Because it isn’t broken.”

- Victor Lavalle – The Devil in Silver

As far as Iran, my guess, Israel will have the final say as to whether we start yet another war – it will occur regardless of who is at the helm.

Oh, and this:

A vote for Jill Stein is a vote for Romney.

runs and hides,

db

No need for that. However, having heard this empty rhetoric for far too many years, I do take exception. As a critical thinking human, I simply can no longer offer my support/vote to any corporate duopoly candidate and maintain a sense of personal dignity.

Obama, while not responsible for the most outrageous white collar crime this country has experienced to date, condoned the pillage now know as the 2008 Financial Meltdown. He did not condemn the perpetrators, Wall Street et al, rather he appointed some to positions of authority in his administration. His actions, or rather lack of actions, make him an accessory to the crimes.

President Romney...just the thought makes me light-headed and nauseous. I shudder to think of his first appointment to the Supreme Court.

So, until and unless someone can demonstrate to me how voting my conscience and marking my ballot for a third party nominee is casting my vote for either Obama or Romney (depending on your own duopoly leaning), I will proudly mark the ballot consciously and deliberately.

I hope every citizen will do the same.

ETA: As said so eloquently above, this is not a case of the best man/woman winning.

I think we all know that it depends on what state one resides in, with all the intricacies of the electoral college. If one lives in a state like New Mexico, Colorado, or Nevada, for example, a principled vote for Jill Stein does function as a vote for Romney, because of the two viable candidates, obviously Obama would be preferable as a winner to a Stein supporter, but Obama loses a vote in that close contest when the principled voter chooses Stein.

Should the principled voter live in California or Arizona, though, states which will clearly go for Obama or Romney respectively, the vote for Stein does not impact the overall outcome of the state and those votes should be encouraged to foster support for third party candidates in future elections. (Run, Jill, Run!)

If I lived in Oregon this year, I'd be voting for Jill. I live in Nevada, so I'm voting for Obama. Swing state politics, gotta do what you gotta do.
