Klonopin question

Recommended Posts

Has any of you just notice that some days it works wonders then there are those days that Just see to suck you into over worrying and you can't seem to find the relief you need. I even noticed that with xanax and it just seems if your having a stressful day. Benzo's are just going to take your anxiety to bay and it's just not a magic pill that takes everything away that distresses us.

Benzodiazepines help you to relax, but they don't eliminate all worrying nor do they eliminate obsessing. Could it be that you just feel more stressed out some days than others? I know that is the way it is with me. I have days when I don't think my meds are doing anything at all, but I know that I'd be a whole lot worse without them.

Same with me. I am on klonopin on a regular basis every day (not PRN), and some days I am more anxious and stressed out than usual. It is still working, just I'm more anxious or stressed on that day for whatever reason.

I just notice that my anxiety waxes and wanes even while on a potent benzo like klonopin. I switched last yr to xanax and we had to keep uping it until I went into the psychward and they yanked me off of it. I'm still mad about that, but glad they did because it was making me very depressed. Klonopin and even xanax don't work at all on my bad days and I'm going to have a bad day come up because of legal issue's. I just hope they don't throw the book at me.

I take allot of Klonopin, it's one of the most effective meds for anxiety I have come across. I take 2 milligrams twice a day, and an extra 1mg if I'm having some breakthrough anxiety. My pdoc says it the klonopin could be replaced with depakote and/or lithium (or at least LESSEN the need for klonopin), but I'm quite satisfied at 2mg twice daily for now.

FWIW, I'd keep in mind that if your pdoc decides to decrease the klonopin and add another med, the klonopin is very hard and a slow process to come off of/lower the dose.

Yup,I know...you can't just stop them or expect to be off of them in two weeks. My pdoc said that to avoid widthdrawl a 0.5mg decrease per month would be ideal (while slowly adding in the other med/s). I was up to 2mg 4x a day of klonopin until the pdoc with other meds managed to get me on half of that (2mg 2x a day instead).

Though, for now I like my klonopin the way it is :) Perhaps in the future I will take less/go off of it.
