Energizerhoney
Can you take both together? Klonopin takes care of my general anxiety, but in certain high stress, public speaking type thing (even just co workers) my hands start shaking, heart pounding (not just pounding but shoots up to 150 bpm) blood pressure skyrockets, voice shaking, adrenaline shoots through the roof. I'm completely unable to think clearly when like this. I once had a job interview that I totally failed because of how bad my anxiety/panic....who wants to hire someone that is clearly panicking? And i had taken 1mg klonopin before hand. So embarrassing I'm only interested in taking inderal on a prn basis or most likely once a day while at work which is when most of those type of symptoms occure. I have my pdoc appt next week so will be bringing this up. Just wanted your opinions (not looking for medical advice). When you take it, how often, your dose, if you take benzos as well, anything you'd like to share. crtclms
I take Xanax and propranalol (generic Inderal) as part of my daily cocktail. I know Xanax and Klonopin aren't exactly the same, but....
sonicwhite
Wulp, I understand anxiety, but klonopin will grip you into the fear of I need it when really you don't. CBT is better for this.... Because this will give you tools that you need. Not in every case will you have a pill to smash the anxiety. I know it took me yr's to finally figure that out. Just be patient. This is just my opinion a doc would be better to help you.
crtclms
Sonicwhite, the OP wanted to know if it was okay to take Inderal as a prn, not whether you thought it would be a good idea to change her treatment plan, because you have decided that clonezapam has some kind of fictional "grip" over her. You may have problems with benzos, but please don't project that onto other members.
Parapluie
I don't know about taking taking Klonopin and propranolol together. But, I do take propranolol 20mg PRN and it really helps with the symptoms you're describing. I think it's worth bringing up to your pdoc. I keep a little stash of propranolol on me at all times, just in case.
amy5000
I was using propanolol to wean off of klonopin. You just have to make sure your blood pressure doesn't get too low because mine did sometimes, but that was when I was sick and had trouble eating enough too which I'm sure made it much worse. I wish I still had a rx for propanolol.
Guest
I take 40mg of Inderal and xanax PRN, Never had a problem and it works pretty well. I found when I ran out of inderal my anxiety and therefor my usage of xanax skyrocketed, it really has a big effect.
Energizerhoney
I'm also concerned how bad my physical symptoms affect my health. No way is having tons of Cortisol, high blood pressure at times, etc being released is in any way healthy for anyone. Esp over time. And esp if its happening often. That really takes a huge toll on your body. So until I get my anxiety/panic under control, (which may or may not ever happen as we all know), I certainly need something more than klonopin. I can not wait to see my pdoc this week to talk with them. @SonicWhite, I understand your concerns, but I hope you understand mine as well. Like you said, it took you a couple years to work through your issues, I hope at some point I can get to that point also. But until then... mcjimjam
IDK about Kpin, but I've taken Valium with low dose Inderal before.
eardstapa
I regularly take both bromazepam and 80mgs Inderal daily. Personally I find the two work very well together, and Inderal has helped me considerably as far as the physical manifestations of anxiety/panic are concerned. saveyoursanity
I've taken a beta blocker (which is what Inderal is) and Klonopin together. It was no big deal, although I had some orthostatic hypotension for awhile. (dizziness when I stood up, particularly) Make sure you get educated on the symptoms of low blood pressure and what to do if you feel it's dropping like a stone and you may be in danger, but otherwise, my experience was very good, aside from that one time I nearly hit my head on the kitchen floor.
