I very recently lost my job a few weeks ago. I was upset because I enjoyed it so much. But I am not stressed because I live with my family and am very grateful that I have food on the table and a roof over my head.

As an atheist, I find myself interested in tarot cards, reading horoscopes, astrology and reading spiritual literature. WTH? Is this a psychotic episode? I still do not believe in god but feel sort of spiritually connected to everything. This is what happened when I had a psychotic episode last. It is weird. I cannot explain it well so I apologise. The psychiatrist seemed concerned but obviously not that concerned if she wanted to see me a month later.

I am extremely concerned because I am going on holiday in less than 3 months and do not want this to develop into a full blown episode. I got insurance but it’s not going to be the same there.

I obviously have other symptoms but do not want to make this long.

Since this was associated with an episode before I would keep an eye out for more symptoms.  Are you able to contact your pdoc if you start to get worse?  Lots of people are interested in those sorts of things but it's atypical for you.  I get irritable early on which doesn't mean anything on it's own but I do keep watch.

I'm curious about your symptoms?  I think it's probably a good sign your pdoc said in a month-she doesn't think you are progressing.  I understand the concern about traveling.  I hope everything goes well and you have a good time.

I've been very obsessed with religion and what it means to me and been psychotic at the same time. I find I focus so much on it and how I should act and be when I get delusional about that sort of thing. I think it is a common delusion for psychotic people to have.

I would call your pdoc about it. It couldn't hurt. I'm sorry your pdoc brushed you off and told you to come back in a month. That's not cool.

I have psychical symptoms. I get hot, I feel like I'm sweating but don't actually sweat and I have a pulse rate of 90-109. I can feel the palpitations and get out of breath every few minutes. Now this has not happened before.

The hotness thing I believe ive had too and it is related to too much adrenaline, which is also a feature of schizophrenia. I get it once I havent been on a med for about a week.

  • 1 month later...

I get religious when I am in an episode too. I find it is often giving me a sense of control and certainty when things start to get hard, but that turns into a delusional sense of irrational security and confidence, it is tied closely with my mania. It gets out of hand.
