Gearhead
How long have you been taking Geodon? If the answer is "not very long," then you may just still be getting used to it and the sleepiness will go away. But for me, and I know several other people who had the same problem, the sedation never went away, and for a couple of years I was a doped up mess who fell asleep in public places all the time. I do not reecommend it.
jarn
The sedation never went away for me the second time I was on it, and was terrible. I was never able to manage it.

amosleigh
My pdoc has me take all my 120mg dose at night so I would be hit with sedation at bedtime. Eventually after months I no longer have sedation and have at times used 40mgs of my daily dosage during the day as a calming drug for anxiety. YMMV but I did eventually adjust to it. Gearhead
I think a fair trial would be between 6-8 weeks. If you still feel shitty, drop it.
Alien Navel Cord
I took geodon for 2 months, in 2011. It was so sedating that even taking it at bedtime I could NOT wake up in the morning. It was like I was in a coma. I'd drive to work in a nearly unconscious fog. My work started to suffer because I was so groggy and sedated that I could not think. The sedation would finally wear out (for the most part) by the time I got off work and went home. Then I'd get the worst akasthesia ever. And then rinse, repeat. It was the worst drug I'd ever taken. I was so out of it. I can't believe I drove around while on it. I even made it from Spokane to Tacoma somehow (6 hr drive). Yikes!
Luna-
I can recommend splitting the dose. I take mine 40-120. My pdoc wanted me to take 80-80, but I would fall asleep around 11 when I did that.. If even 40mg makes you sleepy, ask if you can't take it all in the evening. The sleepiness has worn off for me and sometimes I need a sleep med. But I have been on it for years. How much are you taking? ETA: I know its half-life is short and it's better to take the dose split evenly, but hell, we have to live, too.
