A pill isn't going to make you happy.  At least not an antidepressant.  It's purpose is to alleviate the symptoms of depression.  That doesn't mean obliterate, and it doesn't mean that you'll be a happy person.  That's why a lot of people go to therapy to work on things like that.

ADs don't make you happy. We all wish! That view is perpetuated by the stereotype of ADs being "happy pills". They can alleviate the symptoms of depression but that doesn't make you happy. They just make it more possible to do things that will make you happy.

Happiness is a complex thing with many aspects. None of which are findable in a pill.

I find that AD's help to clear the fog.  Or as my tdoc puts it "from a stake steak knife to a butter knife" it still hurts but way less.

But to be happy you need to work on the feelings, the copeing mecanisims, the triggers and so on. I am of the opinion your on psycotropics your in therapy. But not everyone feels this way.

I completely agree with what this poster wrote. Very well said!

Prozac made me happy to the point of destructive mania. ADs aren't supposed to do that - if they trigger "Happy," you are probably bipolar, and trust me, you don't want that. ADs bring you up from the very bottom, the rest has to be done with therapy and lifestyle changes.
