confused
I wore some new pajamas today that I hadn't washed yet. I started feeling some pain even though they don't feel tight. When I took them off I have a rash, raised red patches on my right upper thigh. It seems like if it was an allergy it would be all over? It doesn't itch just hurts. The pajamas are cotton and I hadn't washed them yet I took a shower and changed clothes and it seems a little better. Any ideas what it could be? saveyoursanity
There is literally no way for anyone here to know what this is. You had a reaction. If you want to know if it's an allergy, talk to a doctor. Furthermore, this is why I wash clothes before I wear them. For one thing, formaldehyde releasing chemicals are deliberately put into clothing to help resist wrinkles, and even worse chemicals than that are used in the processing of cotton and most synthetic blends. confused
thanks. they were wrapped up so I don't think people were trying them on. I usually wash my clothes first, just got lazy. I realize now that no one can dx sys. It's just bothering me- I'll call my doc in the am.
skye
It could also just be an irritation caused by heat. I suggest putting a cool cloth on it and then applying cream and it will help relieve the pain.
confused
thank you skye. I'll try that
olga
It's always a good idea to wash new clothes, even if they were in a package. I get paranoid because I think of all the people who handled the fabric and the finished goods before I bought them, so I have to wash them. Is the rash still painful? olga
deeschmee
I see your on lamictal, don't discount the fact that it may be a reaction to that. Call your doctor or pharmacist and let them know.
confused
I've been taking ibuprofen and it helps. I can't tell if it's improving. The cold and lotion helped it feel a little better. I didn't think about all the chemicals that sys mentioned. I'm guessing it's more something irritating my skin than anything else. I really don't think it's a medicine reaction. I've been on the same ones for years. But, thank you for the reminder about lamictal.

confused
It's shingles. She said it was just a co-incidence I was wearing new clothes. I have to take a medicine 5 times/day for a week. I'm going back on Thursday to be re-checked.
