Crazymusician0704
So far...I've been on Zyprexa (no go, I was a complete zombie, I fell asleep all the time, anywhere and it could happen at anytime...almost like narcolepsy) Abilify (horrible tremors) Seroquel (didn't work for sleep, but could work for other things...but I was on an extremely low dose so I don't know) Saphris (um...it knocked me out initially...by the end the akathisia was bad) Geodon (puts me to sleep for days) are there any that don't make you a zombie???? I know TD is something to worry about, but honestly, I'd rather deal with constantly twitching than sleeping all the time as long as it's not akathisia I see my pdoc tomorrow, I'm gonna see what he recommends...but are there any that aren't sedatives that I could ask about trying? Wonderful.Cheese
Latuda? I'm on that and I don't have problems with it sedating me.
hagar
Invega doesn't sedate me in the slightest.
Guest
I was on risperdal for years, Zyprexa and Seroquel were a washout. Solian/Amisulperide may be another option.
Crazymusician0704
have any of you guys had issues with akathisia (inner restlessness) with it? I'll look into it tomorrow thanks guys
hagar
I've only had akathisia from Abilify, personally. It was unbearable. Which is a shame cause it was an otherwise good drug for me.
koa
latuda or Risperdal.
melissaw72
Have you tried wellbutrin as an add-on to any of the antipsychotics/sedating meds? It is a stimulant and helped my mood at the same time.
Crazymusician0704
Wellbutrin was the first med my old pdoc ever tried to put me on, but he said it would be expensive...and I'm broke, hopefully I'll have enough for my meds this month...I'm already having to borrow for my pdoc appt. dtac
Out of your list, Risperdal is the only one I can think of that didn't sedate me. Latuda is mildly sedating, but not unbearable like geodon, saphris, and seroquel. Those 3 put me out for hours and made me non-functional the next day. Luna-
have any of you guys had issues with akathisia (inner restlessness) with it? I'll look into it tomorrow I'm not sure the answer to this would be meaningful for you, it is so individual, what causes akathisia for whom. I had it badly on Seroquel but others seem to be able to tolerate it just fine. Probably every AAP causes akathisia for someone. Good luck. bookgirl
It's hard to tell which meds will sedate, activate you, zombify you, or cause akithisia because it's so individual. I had horrible akithisia on Latuda, but many others here have no problems taking it. Talk to your pdoc.
mellifluous
i find traditional antipsychotics far less sedating in general than atypical ones. maybe look into one of those as an option? you can also take things to try and combat likelihood of developing tardive dyskinesia... jango
Wellbutrin was the first med my old pdoc ever tried to put me on, but he said it would be expensive...and I'm broke, hopefully I'll have enough for my meds this month...I'm already having to borrow for my pdoc appt. These days it's much less expensive. The price seems to be between 10 and 80 dollars, depending on quantity, variety, and whether you use a coupon.
