Are there any present forum members that are undergoing testosterone replacement therapy? My psychiatrist left me the results of my blood test results on the phone this morning -- she requested the test. I turns out I am low on testosterone. I have an appointment scheduled with my doctor this Friday.

Edited for clarification.

I don't like to be negative, but testosterone replacement has many potentially serious side effects such as cardiovascular issues, infertility, testicular atrophy, and activation of certain cancers. In fact, it was just in the news here recently: http://www.wcpo.com/dpp/news/health/healthy_living/consumer-reports-warns-about-risks-of-testosterone-treatments

I personally would prefer to boost my body's own testosterone production rather than take a testosterone replacement. But that is just me and your results may be different.

Do reread my post. I am seeing my physician today. It is up to him to prescribe what ever he thinks is the best option to restore my testosterone levels.

Hey, I was just passing on information so that you have something to talk over with your doctor in the event that testosterone replacement therapy is considered. Sorry, I did not mean to be offensive.

No offense taken. I should have been clearer in my original post.

  • 2 weeks later...

I was on it for a few years due to testicular cancer. Anything you wanna know ask me and I will try answer it.

If your level is low then it sounds like you do need it, despite its health issues which by the way are uncertain its more unhealthy to have low testosterone than replacement.

I advice you give gel and injections a 3 month trial, injections are about finding the right dose for me it was 85mg per week, gel has benefits and drawbacks such as increased DHT and increase bodyhair but better mimics natural testosterone levels. There is an injection you only have to do once a month which I recomend, they say you should do 250mg every 3 weeks but I think 85mg each week is better for enanthate.

Each of the injections have different half lives so require different dosage frequencies but doctors usually prescribe longer intervals than what would keep levels stable.

When you see your endocrinologist have your other hormone levels checked such as IGF-1, FSH, TSH, LH, profesterone, pregnenelone, free or bioavailable testosterone. Also make sure you took your testosterone level between 7am and 11am for an accurate reading.

Also if you T is low there is no natural way to boost it to normal levels, people have tried.

My dh has low t.  it was discovered a few years ago and he has been on the injections every 10 days up until recently.  The insurance changed or some such thing.  Not sure what happened.  He didn't have any side effects or problems.  He's taking some vitamins and that's helping with the lack of energy.  He was taking the ED drugs and that made a huge difference.  I cant remember the names because my brain isn't functioning well at the moment.

Oh yeah, he is by no means a healthy runner or in very good shape.  His shape is round :)  Although because of his work his arms and legs are very well muscled :)
