I'm telling you I'm getting mad!

Recommended Posts

I am snapping at everybody. Like I don't know how to be nice.....When I wasn't on effexor I was depressed and I could care less about what people did but, now every little smart attitude and everything that has ever mad me mad in the past has come to haunt me. I just can't stop snappin at people. I just don't get it. I know I'm in the BP section and I am thinking this is making me manic.

With me, somtimes ADs can cause a hypomanic or even a mixed mood type reaction. This sounds like a beginning stage of a mixed mood episode to me. I would nip this in the a$$ asap. Can you contact your prescriber?

Irritability does not necessarily = mania, despite your suspicions.  I would get in contact with your pdoc though; one or some of the med(s) you're on could be related.  Or you could need a further look into your treatment; adding something on.

I mean, it could be hypomania, or it could be something else.  We can't really tell ya that one.

I definitely do get similar feelings when my hypomania is ramping up.  For me that's a big red flag to contact my pdoc, and I usually get an emergency appointment right away when I tell her what I'm feeling.

Could just be a med reaction. Risperdal did that to me. I snapped at everyone the whole time I was on it and pissed off a lot of people. Once I quit it, no more irritability. It also caused 2 mixed episodes which were not fun at all.

For me, irritability is a sign of a hypomanic episode coming on. I have to *make* myself call my dr. I make excuses about why I am so impatient and mad. Last time, I finally copped to being manic and left him a message: "I'm pissed off! I'm just mad at everyone! No one is doing anything to me, I'm just freakin' mad!"
