I know this is a first person site....

so forgive me if I'm not correct in posting this. Basically my question isn't about mental illness but about transgender issues. I have a close friend that recently came out about being transgender, he is not mentally ill in any way so it's strictly a question about transgender. Can I get advice about that here or does that violate the first person rule? I just want to support my friend and be there for him through this and I was hoping to ask some questions from some knowledgeable people about how to be supportive. Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask.

You may be interested in some general information sites, like this:

And also things like PFLAG's support for family, friends, and allies:

Otherwise yes, we are a first-person site.  I'll be locking this now.  Those links should help to get you started.
