OCD medications approved by the FDA specifically for the treatment of OCD:

  • Anafranil (clomipramine)
  • Prozac (fluoxetine)
  • Luvox (fluvoxamine)
  • Paxil (paroxetine hydrochloride)
  • Zoloft (sertraline)

Although not formally approved by the FDA for treatment of OCD, other types of SSRIs, as well as serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitors (SNRIs), are being prescribed by physicians "off-label" as OCD medications.

I normally wouldn't post if I hadn't taken a medication myself, but just wanted to share this:

A very close family member has had great difficulty with OCD and anxiety for years/ tried many, many different meds + therapies and and Luvox helped tremendously, (although this person had lots of trouble sleeping for the first two weeks or so.)
