Dusk
I was approved for SSI in 2006. I wasn't eligable for SSDI because I hadn't worked long enough. So, in (I think) 2010, my husband started making more money and I stopped receiving the SSI and also lost my Medicaid. Now, I've heard that some people who lose the SSI can keep the Medicaid. We can't afford insurance. Does anyone have any experience with this? Thanks.
bpladybug
Dusk, effective Jan. 2014 people can apply through the Exchange (either in their state or federal) and there should be more access to Medicaid, as well as subsidies for lower income people. I don't know where you live but there are a lot of good things coming. And Mental Health coverage should be on all the plans. Lots of change coming. You should google the Office of your state insurance commissioner for information about health insurance.
Dusk
Thanks bp. I'm in Tennessee. I've tried to wrap my head around the new healthcare laws and just can't understand them. I just know it's a good thing. I will google that. Edited July 27, 2013 by Dusk
