climber47
I have a weird symptom suddenly... Random "butterflies in the stomach" feelings (ha is there a medical term for that?); it does get worse with stress but most of the time there's no conscious trigger... It's every few minutes sometimes! I've been taking klonopin for several months 0.5 mg but mostly as needed. A pdoc prescribed it that way originally (for anxiety) and I took one occasionally, and sometimes 1/2 to sleep. After that I saw an NP/therapist and she said it was fine to take everyday. I wasn't aware of that, I'd already had concerns about taking it at all. I guess after she said that I started taking it more often; I ran out about a week ago, and noticed when I'd filled it, and realized I'd actually been taking it pretty much daily! Or rather I'd been taking one every morning and sometimes an extra on bad days, and "sometimes" 1/2 at night... More than I realized I guess cause I ended averaging 1 mg/day. So basically I've taken it for probably 6 months, the last month or two pretty consistently. Just wondering if that's enough to give me withdrawals? I never had this stomach thing before I started/stopped klonopin; also have had a couple really bad headaches and insane muscle tension (very unique; if I try to massage it it actually tightens up more). Also much more teeth grinding. I guess those last two should be more bothersome but maybe I'm just accustomed to chronic pain... But this butterflies thing is driving me nuts!!! Just wondering if that's enough to give me withdrawals? If you stop taking it then yes, IMO you will have withdrawal symptoms (for me it was shakiness, agitation, couldn't concentrate, hard time falling asleep). When I was weaning down from a high dose of klonopin, it took a long time to do so so I wouldn't go into withdrawal. I am still on a small dose, and take it regularly (not as a prn); I find it more effective that way.
Wonderful.Cheese
I agree with Melissa. Better safe than sorry. I would tirtate it down if possible.
