I have a lot of energy b/c I'm manic and have been trying to find effective ways to use it up. My OCD is kicking in as well with this bout of mania and I'm doing a lot of repetitive motions and I have a lot of thoughts/words cycling through my mind over and over again.

How do you guys direct your excessive energy? I am having trouble concentrating on anything and I feel like I'm out of my tree. I see my tdoc in 2 hours, just talked to my pdoc on Saturday,  and had a med adjustment after our talk. I also recently took a Klonopin in hopes that it will calm me down a bit. I don't want to be hyper and disjointed in my therapy session today. I feel like I am wicked annoying when I act this way and hate it!

I totally get where you are at, including the part of knowing that you are annoying but powerless to change it. Hate that!

Cleaning is good - closets, windows, patio, porch... and the more typical bath, kitchen, dusting, vacuuming, etc, etc. Doesn't take much thought but requires energy. You can also take care of some stuff that you ordinarily don't want to spend time on.

Gardening is good if the sun doesn't fuel your energy. (Just don't plant a new garden. If you are like me, it will be a fancy high maintenance one that will require more maintenance than you want to do when stable.)

I've taken on successful painting projects when hypo or not too manic. Just have someone rational help with the color selections. (Like the garden, I got too fancy. It's time to repaint and I just don't see repeating the complexity again.)

Googling and computer games sometimes help.

Great ideas, thank you. School is going to take up some time and energy today and I have to bike to and from my tdoc appt so that should help. Just wish it wasn't so hot here, still. Supposed to be 100 today (I'm in Tucson, AZ).

Great suggestions, thank you. I usually go crazy with the cleaning but don't want to wake my bf up so I've had to curb it at night. I biked a lot yesterday and took 2 klonopin (am & pm) and that helped to bring me to a more normal pace. Ah, relief!

I'm glad you had some relief! Klonopin is a life saver. Don't forget to take it during the day and set a reminder on your phone if you have to. I'm going to have to start doing that for my afternoon dose. All of a sudden I'll feel super anxious and worked up and be like why am I feeling like thi.....OH YEAH! I didn't take my afternoon klonopin. Oops!

Take care.

Good idea. I have phone reminders for my other meds. I'll add a reminder for K. My doc said to take it more often (i try to avoid taking it) since I am manic. Feeling antsy right now and realized I hadn't taken one today!
