getting really sad when manic or hypo

Recommended Posts

is this a thing?

when depressed my emotions pretty much turn off (along with everything else that makes like worth living) and I just don't really feel anything for very long periods of time.

when supposedly hypo, I sometimes get hit by these waves of despair that last anywhere from moments to days. it just comes out of nowhere with no warning. I used to think I was getting depressed and it was a BP mood swing, but I've found that it just happens for a little while without a change in overall mood state (still agitated, sleepless, and all that).

sound familiar to anyone...?

The only time sadness (with the hypo) hits me is when I crash, then I become really tired, depressed, weepy.  I don't do much except sleep and tear up at everything/weepy; even a small thought will make me start to cry.

This has never happened to me, but I also thought it could be a mixed state or dysphoric hypomania. I know when I'm NOT hypomanic, if I get very little sleep, I'll get hit with these waves of despair. But when I'm hypomanic I'll just be happy all the time or really irritable all the time, no despair.

I agree, you should report it to your pdoc.
