couples therapy?

So last night, after a really bad week for me, my husband has this long talk with me about how my struggles are negatively impacting his life. He was really kind and fair and thinks we should go to couples therapy to work this out. I already do DBT individually to try to cope with my MI. I think it would be better if he went to his own therapist to learn how to deal with everything that he is feeling, but he insists that it should be couples therapy. So here are my questions: anybody out there ever done couples therapy while also doing individual therapy? Do any of you have similar experiences that you'd be willing to share?
