muscle...clenching? tensing?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone relate to this?: Every now and then a muscle will just kinda tense up/clench. Not very heard but enough to make me go "uh!" for a second. Usually in my stomach but it happens elsewhere as well, like my legs. Not sure if it's just something random or if it's a med side effect? It's new-ish since a couple months ago. I know I should ask my doctor, duh, but I just wondered if anyone else had something like this happen.

Is it like a muscle cramp? I've had those periodically in my calves since starting lithium, I've noticed. Usually at night. I'm not sure if the lithium has contributed to that. But, for me, it's more of a random nuisance than anything else, so I haven't thought to bring it up with my psych nurse.

It's definitely not a cramp, it's not painful persay, it's just weird. Like someone put their hand around whatever muscle and squeezed for a second or two, then let go.

I take Wellbutrin XL, Lamictal, Haldol, and Saphris. I want to say this has been happening since I started Haldol...which has been more than 2 months now, hmm...I don't know, it's just ODD.

i've had restless legs - which i've put down to taking seroquel. what that feels like is: have you seen seen an epileptic have a fit where they're twitching uncontrollably? if you score that a 10 - i'm having around a 1/2, and only in my legs at night, after i've taken my meds. as a result, dialling down on the seroquel, and swapping to something else.

Yes, I know what you mean!  It feels like a major spasm of my stomach or diaphragm or something, where it will tighten up and kind of catch me off guard.  It only lasts maybe 5 or 10 seconds, but it really does bother me.  Sometimes it happens, then will let up for a couple seconds, then will happen again, let up, happen again, etc, a few times.  Then it goes away as if nothing had happened.
