alternatives to antidepressants/mood stabilizers

Recommended Posts

There are certain herbs with demonstrated effect on mood disorders, St. John's Wort for example, but those effects are a) highly variable, b) unregulated the way pharmaceutical medications are, c) nowhere near as potent, effective or targeted as pharmaceutical medications (and with the current state of brain science, even the best psychoactive meds aren't all that well targeted yet), d) not always compatible with an individual's personal biochemistry, and e) if taken from the wild, potentially confusable with similar species with harmful/toxic/deadly properties.

Seriously - millions are spent in research and development to produce safe and effective medications to treat MI; the chances of effectively treating your condition with something simply pulled out of the ground are vanishingly small, I'm afraid.
