The Emperor
Yup, I can't take SSRI's. A while back, I had taken SNRI's and that was okay. Apparently it is NOT anymore. Lamictal is my AD now, but we're trying to find something for anxiety and THAT makes it difficult. Psh. Yeah, no messing with my serotonin either. My brain AND body hate that. Good luck finding something else! I hope you do soon.
Jessamine
I've not had much luck either. I did okay with citalopram once when I went back on it recently had a really bad reaction to it. Effexor made me drive on the wrong side of the road, it was awful. I just couldn't remember which side I was supposed to drive on and I had my 2 younger kids in the car at the time. I've not really had any luck at all with any of the SSRI's (I think there's only 1 or 2 I haven't tried). They either mess with my mind or like you said, my body. Or both. My current doctor is trialling TCA's but so far not having much luck with them either.
crtclms
You can often take SSRIs and SNRIs if you are on a mood stabilizer. Prozac made me manic, but I was on a mood stabilizer when I took Zoloft. I felt shitty on it, but I didn't get manic. I take wellbutrin (SNRI) with Lamictal (mood stabilizer), and have my SNRI dialed up as high as is allowed. And I have lithium as an add on, because I am still depressed.
